PTAC SC Clients Awarded $1,000,000 in Government Contracts

The Procurement Technical Assistance Center of South Carolina (PTAC SC) assisted South Carolina businesses in receiving more than $1,000,000 in government contracts during the past year.

PTAC SC clients were awarded contracts from various agencies including the Department of Veteran Affairs, Internal Revenue Service, SC Department of Corrections, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

“This milestone is a testament to the success PTAC SC has had since being established a little over a year ago,” said University of South Carolina Office of Economic Engagement Executive Director Bill Kirkland. “The center is playing a key role in strengthening South Carolina’s economy by providing more businesses, large and small, with the tools needed to obtain federal, state, and local government contracting.”

In addition to the milestone reached in contracts, PTAC SC has accepted more than 600 clients representing 43 counties throughout the state. Of these businesses, 207 are women-owned and 37 are veteran owned.

PTAC SC counselors have also assisted 17 businesses from 11 counties in achieving a federal or state socio-economic certification. These certifications are required to qualify for small and minority business opportunities. In addition, several clients are currently in the certification process.

“Our purpose is to help leverage our state businesses for success in the government marketplace. Helping our clients gain contracts and certifications are a crucial part of this process and we celebrate our clients’ success,” said PTAC SC Program Manager Ron Conner.

PTAC SC provides the following assistance at no charge: identifying marketing opportunities for products/services; advising and assisting in preparation and submission of applications, certifications and registrations for doing business with federal, state, and local governments; advising and assisting with the preparation and submission of bids/proposals and post-award functions; bid matching service; and pursuing subcontracting opportunities.

PTAC SC is currently accepting clients who are interested in seeking contractual business opportunities with the federal, state, and local government.
